Grant Rix

Founder & director, the Pause, Breathe, Smile Program, New Zealand

Grant Rix is the main Mindfulness in Education leader in New Zealand. He developed Pause, Breathe, Smile (PBS), New Zealand’s researched mindfulness in schools’ program. PBS is contextualised by a holistic model of wellbeing, called Te Whare Tapa Whā (‘The House with Four Walls’), which conceptualises health and wellbeing from an indigenous perspective, but in a way that is universally applicable. PBS is now being delivered in nearly 300 New Zealand schools. As well as training schools to integrate the program, Grant is also involved in researching the effects of PBS and has presented in China, Australia and New Zealand.
